Quality evidence for fish oil softgels: ask what the result actually covers.

A quality statement is useful only when the buyer can trace it to a product, sample stage, method, lot and destination requirement. This page explains what to request and what RainwoodBio must confirm in its current product documentation.

Company-reported quality platform

Control the process.
Trace the result.

The corporate quality page describes incoming-material control, GMP-based monitoring through production and distribution, and a standardized laboratory. These are company-reported capabilities; confirm the current scope, method and record for the product and lot you are buying.

RAW MATERIAL CONTROL

Traceable sourcing and handling

The company reports Peruvian fishery sourcing, sealed temperature-controlled transfer, and nitrogen handling for refined fish oil. Confirm the origin and transport records for the offered input.

IN-PROCESS CONTROL

GMP checkpoints across production

The company describes quality monitoring across personnel, equipment, materials, methods and environment, from R&D and incoming material through production, storage and shipment.

LABORATORY / TEST PLAN

Agree the panel and sample stage

The corporate page reports 20+ testing instruments, 900+ monthly inspection batches and 900+ detection indicators. Request the relevant methods, units, acceptance limits and lot-linked report.

Credentials: The corporate website lists quality-system and market approvals including ISO, HACCP, BRCGS, GMP review, CNAS laboratory recognition and EU animal-origin food approval. The certificate holder and scope must remain exactly as issued; request current copies and verify entity, address, product/activity and validity before using any credential for a specific fish-oil softgel.
Label integrity: Fish oil is animal-derived. The company’s product listing includes one inconsistent “Vegan” field; this website does not make a vegan claim for fish oil softgels.
Lot-specific records: Ask for current certificate copies and batch-linked test reports for the selected formula and lot. Scope, methods, limits and results should match the final product specification.
A COA is not self-explanatory

Match each result
to the product and lot.

Before accepting a certificate of analysis, identify the tested material, test stage, sample or batch identifier, date, method, units, acceptance criteria and issuing laboratory. Oil input results and finished-softgel results answer different questions.

QuestionWhat to checkWhy buyers care
What material was tested?Raw fish oil, bulk fill, in-process sample or finished softgelA result from oil input alone does not establish the finished product result.
Does potency support the label?EPA and DHA values, units, basis and calculation per capsule/servingPrevents confusion between fish-oil weight and EPA/DHA delivered.
How was freshness assessed?Peroxide value (PV), p-anisidine value (p-AV), TOTOX and methodInterpret each measure with its method, sample stage and agreed specification.
Which contaminants are in scope?Requested heavy metals, dioxins/PCBs or other market/buyer panelRequirements vary by destination, product, raw material and importer.
Is the record traceable?Lot/batch ID, sampling date, report date, lab identity and revisionConnects the evidence to the shipment being evaluated.
Public industry reference: GOED’s published oxidation-control guidance states PV <5 meq O₂/kg oil and p-AV <20 for covered EPA/DHA oils/products. These are GOED reference thresholds, not RainwoodBio test results or a claim about every finished softgel. Read the GOED oxidation-control guidance and GOED Monograph.
Request evidence by stage

Build the document list before the order.

Ask your supplier to identify which records exist now, which are product-specific, and which are generated for the finished lot.

Pre-quotation / supplier qualification

  • Current company/facility profile and manufacturing scope
  • Current certificates, exact legal entity, scope and expiry (if relied upon)
  • Product specification and ingredient source documents for the offered oil
  • Destination-market importer document checklist

Sample and specification approval

  • Approved formula and target EPA/DHA declaration basis
  • Oil and finished format specifications
  • Sample approval record and packaging/label revision
  • Agreed test panel, methods, sampling points and acceptance criteria

Shipment / batch release

  • Lot-linked COA and test results for the agreed material stage
  • Traceability, manufacturing/release records and shipment documents as agreed
  • Document revision matching the final label and order specification

Do not infer a certificate’s scope from its logo. Confirm issuing organization, entity, site, activity and validity period against the current source.
