Fish oil softgel specifications: start with the label target.

RainwoodBio focuses on B2B fish oil softgels. Build a product around EPA/DHA targets, oil concentration and form, fill, capsule, shell and pack—with the final combination defined in the approved product specification.

Specification variables

Six decisions define
the product you quote.

These parameters work together. A higher EPA/DHA target may change oil selection, fill, capsule dimensions, serving count and cost. Confirm the complete combination before treating an indicative example as a final product.

01 · ACTIVES

EPA and DHA amount and ratio

State whether the target is per softgel, per serving or per daily intake. Make the label declaration basis explicit.

02 · INPUT OIL

Oil concentration and form

Compare the intended concentration and oil form (for example, EE or TG where available) against the label target and market requirements.

03 · FILL

Fish-oil fill weight

Distinguish total fish-oil weight from the EPA/DHA amount delivered. Do not infer actives from fill weight alone.

04 · CAPSULE

Size, shape and shell

Align oval or oblong direction, target dimensions, shell material and consumer pack. Final fit depends on formula and tooling.

05 · SERVING

Softgels per serving and bottle

Specify the intended serving, count per bottle, closure, label and secondary packaging.

06 · MARKET

Destination and documents

Name the importing country, sales channel and importer request list before label and batch-document planning.

Capsule, oil and pack choices

Configure the details
around the target dose.

Product options are developed as complete combinations, so the label target and consumer format remain aligned.

OIL

EE · TG · rTG

Choose the requested oil form and concentration, including standard, concentrated or specialty EPA/DHA profiles.

FILL / SIZE

250–1,500 mg planning range

Common fill points include 360, 400, 500, 1,000 and 1,200 mg; other fills are set by target and capsule fit.

SHAPE / SHELL

Oval · oblong · round · fish

Gelatin shell source can be specified; enteric-coated and other capsule requirements can be developed for the project.

FORMULA

Fish oil + selected additions

Vitamin E, vitamin D3 and astaxanthin are formula directions, subject to target-market and final label review.

SOURCING

Traceable fish-oil inputs

Cold-water fish sourcing, anchovy/sardine oils, molecular distillation and certified fishery sourcing can be specified for suitable projects.

PACK

Bottle · blister · bulk

Private-label bottle or bag programs, blister and bulk supply can be scoped with count, material, label and carton details.

Commercial starting point: Public RainwoodBio listing: MOQ 100 bottles, 28-day production lead time, 2-year shelf life and cool/dry storage. Customized projects allow up to 15 additional days. Timing starts after final specification, artwork and order inputs are approved; freight transit is separate.
Softgel form planning

From small fill to higher active load.

Do not select a capsule size from a milligram target alone. The oil’s density and viscosity, shell and tooling affect the final dimensions and fit.

Confirm these together

  • Target EPA and DHA per capsule and per serving
  • Fish-oil fill weight and oil concentration
  • Oil form and supplier specification
  • Oval/oblong shape, tooling size and dimensions
  • Gelatin source and shell or coating requirements
  • Serving count and bottle or blister plan
Public suppliers show examples such as 10 oval and 16/20 oblong formats, but tooling labels are not universal dimensional standards. Ask for a dimension drawing or approved sample for the chosen format.

What a product confirmation should contain

Final formula and ingredient statement, oil specification, declared EPA/DHA amount, fill weight, shell material, pack count, target market, test plan, document set and revision/date. Store these in one approved specification so the sample and order are compared against the same target.

Need to source an OEM product?

Send a target—not just “1,000 mg.”

Include the active target, serving plan, destination and pack direction. That gives the manufacturing team a useful basis for checking feasibility and preparing a like-for-like discussion.
